Constellium SE is proud to announce that it has received a Safran Low Carbon Award for its Energ’Iss Project. With this award, Safran recognizes its suppliers’ commitment to reduce their carbon footprint.

The Energ'Iss project is a sustainable heating network initiative, launched in 2021 by Constellium, the city of Issoire, and Dalkia. With this project, the heat recovered from Constellium’s local furnaces for aluminium production is converted to provide heat and hot water to buildings and homes in Issoire. By replacing heat from natural gas, the city has reduced its CO2 emissions by 4,900 tons per year.

"We are very proud of this award, which recognizes our efforts to implement sustainability practices in our business and our communities,” said Ingrid Joerg, President of Aerospace and Transportation at Constellium. “We want to thank Safran for their trust and for this recognition, and for our long-term partnership. We are looking forward to continuing to partner with them to develop innovative and sustainable solutions, and to contribute to the decarbonization of the aerospace industry.”

“The challenge with the lost heat, beyond the recovery by itself is the use that will be made of it afterwards”, commented Marjolaine Grange, Executive Vice President Industry, Purchasing and Performance of Safran. And here, the value we see is that lost heat is used not for the company only but for a whole city. We recognize the very positive image it gives to the Issoire community. Such initiative is a pride for the employees as well as a great example of the industry commitment to both decarbonization and local value creation.”

The award was presented on June 22, 2023 during the 2023 Paris Air Show, during a ceremony in presence of Marjolaine Grange, Vice President Industry, Purchasing and Performance of Safran.
