Meet the Women on our Board

Talent across Constellium

Five of our 12 Board members are women, all different and all inspiring. Here are the stories of three.

Martha Brooks worked in leadership roles at Cummins, Alcan, and Novelis, and has been serving on boards since 2002. “In the early years, I was usually the only woman on the Board, and I probably worked harder to prepare than anyone else did, because I felt I had a long way to go,” she says. “When you are different from everybody in the room, you have to have a thicker skin, and use the tool of humor.”

Wiebke Weiler joined Constellium in 2019 as a Reliability Engineer at the Singen plant. When she learned that the Board was looking for a new member, she applied and was chosen. Her appointment led to a certain amount of self-doubt: “Being on the Board, especially as a young person, having no background in finance, can be very intimidating. I think this is a female-specific thing.” Fortunately, she says, she benefited from an excellent onboarding program and good mentorship.

Chris Brown grew up during the troubles in Northern Ireland, got an education, and went on to hold leadership positions at three major airlines: Iberia, First Choice, and Easyjet. It was not an easy journey, but she proved herself over and over again. “If you want to succeed as a woman leader, then I would say—commit. And be true to yourself. I never tried to behave like a male professional. I stayed authentic to who I am. Quite frankly, I couldn’t be anyone else.”
