Wise Alloys has a tradition of supporting various community activities and causes. In 2000, the company contributed $65,000 to area groups. Recently, Wise Alloys employees collected $12,500 for the families of the victims of the September 11 attacks, which the company matched dollar-for-dollar. In the Shoals’ community, Wise belongs to a variety of civic and business organizations, including the Shoals Chamber of Commerce, Shoals Manufacturing Association, Business Council of Alabama, University of North Alabama Business School Advisory Board and the North West Shoals Community College Advisory Board. Wise Alloys is proud to support many local and national charities and community groups, including the Children’s Museum, the American Heart Fund’s American Heart Golf Classic, American Legion Baseball, the Alabama Institute for Deaf & Blind, the United Way of the Shoals Area and the Tennessee Valley Art Association. Wise Alloys contributes about $40 million to the local economy through annual payroll expenses. In 2001, the company spent $15 million on local purchasing and expenses and paid more than $2 million in state and local taxes. |
